Wet weather will continue from areas of the Northeast into parts of the Southern and Central Plains on Thursday as a slow moving cold front drops across the Northeast and becomes nearly stationary from the Mid-Atlantic through the Central Plains with waves of low pressure. Areas of scattered to widespread showers, thunderstorms and areas of locally heavy rain will develop along and ahead of the cold front. Expect local flooding and possible flash flooding in areas hit with excessive rainfall this week.

Meanwhile, areas of unsettled weather will continue in the West as a cold front ejects across the Central Rockies and waves of low pressure linger across the Intermountain West. Energy and sufficient moisture over this region will kick up isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms across parts of the Central Great Basin, Northern Intermountain West, and Central Rockies through the afternoon and evening. Energy from the Central Rockies will enhance precipitation in the Central Plains, bringing moderate showers and thunderstorms to the Central High Plains.

Elsewhere, high pressure will remain stretched across the Upper Midwest with cooler air from the north. This system will keep daytime highs in the 60s and lower 70s, while the Deep South remains warm and humid with highs in the 80s and 90s.
