Last year's flooding by Irene and "Snowtober" power outages have people in the Northeast gun-shy for problems from Hurricane Sandy. Though Sandy's impacts are a few days away for the Northeast, people are beginning to prepare for the storm.

Depending on the exact track of the storm, there could be a broad corridor of power outages early next week, including the NYC and Boston metro areas. Flooding rains and damaging winds will be major affects from the storm.  A storm surge of 5 to 10 feet is possible to the northeast of the storm's center.

Big potential for chaos at polls, additional "irregularities" if election officials lose busy prep week before Election Day due to #Sandy.

Is everybody ready for the intense politicization of decisions about when to lift evacuation orders and let residents (aka voters) go home?
  9. brendanloy
What happens w/ electronic voting machines if massive power outages? Batteries? Generators? Everyone uses hand-counted paper ballots? #PANIC

Philadelphia scenario is the one thing that might tempt Obama to try and delay the election. Requires Act of Congress, though, so forget it.
