New Year's parades are a tradition for many cities across the U.S. People heading out for some of the big New Year's Day parades may need jackets, and some may need to prepare for rain and snow.
The Philadelphia Mummers Parade
The Philadelphia Mummers Parade starts at 8 a.m. EST on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.
A storm skirting by to the south may spread a few passing rain or snow showers into the Philadelphia area during the parade. However, most of the parade should be dry.

Temperatures at the beginning of the parade will hover around the freezing mark, and the high will only climb into the lower 40s.
Rose Parade
The Rose Parade starts at 8 a.m. PST on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in Pasadena, Calif.
People attending the parade might want to bring a jacket for the start of the parade, while temperatures will be in the mid-40s.
However, the high temperature in Pasadena will climb into the lower 60s under partly sunny skies.
