The major winter storm that has already claimed six lives, according to the Associated Press, is spreading from the Ohio Valley to the eastern Great Lakes and Northeast.
The snow, which is being severely whipped around by strong winds across Ohio and Indiana, will accumulate more than a foot across the Northeast's interior, while soaking rain and strong winds slam the Northeast coast with an icy mix in between.

10:33 p.m. EST: 12" of snow at Marienville, PA measured at 9:21 PM. Still snowing.
10:23 p.m. EST: Wind gust to 66 mph in Tuckerton Shores, NJ. This is just north of Atlantic City.
8:53 p.m. EST: Snow totals: 5.2 inches in Riverview, Mich.; 6.5 inches near Ann Arbor; 8.5 inches in Clarion, Pa.
7:47 p.m. EST: Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) no longer reporting delays due to weather. Delays ongoing at LGA, JFK, PHL and EWR.
7:10 p.m. EST: Snow totals: 7.5 inches in Indianapolis; 9.5 inches in Lima, Ohio; 8 inches in Swanton, Md.

4:26 p.m. EST: ESPN reports that the NBA game between the Chicago Bulls and the Indiana Pacers, scheduled to be played in Indianapolis, has been postponed due to the weather. More than seven inches of snow has buried Indianapolis and gusty winds will continue to blow and drift the snow around through tonight.
4:10 p.m. EST: Weather-related flight delays in excess of three hours reported at the Philadelphia International Airport.
4:00 p.m. EST: Latest snowfall totals: 9.5 inches at Bellefontaine, Ohio, 9.0 inches at Frostburg, Md., and 7.5 inches at Grange, Pa.
3:39 p.m. EST: Numerous fender benders have occurred on major roadways surrounding Reading, Pa.
3:35 p.m. EST: Snow flurries were sighted at the National Weather Service Office in Peachtree City (southwest of Atlanta, Ga.). Twitter user @BradNitzWSB also reported flurries in midtown Atlanta.
3:17 p.m. EST: Winds gusted to 36 mph at Wildwood, N.J., and 32 mph at Atlantic City, N.J. Winds will continue to increase through the early evening hours with gusts to around 50 mph at times. Tree damage and coastal flooding are concerns. These strong winds will continue to press northward along the Northeast coast through tonight.
3:15 p.m. EST: Dayton, Ohio, was reported 6.9 inches of snow.
3:07 p.m. EST: Heavy snow has dropped visibility down to zero in Bradford, Pa., and Olean, N.Y.
2:44 p.m. EST: Latest snowfall totals: 5.0 inches at Punxsutawney, Pa., 4.0 inches just north of Fort Wayne, Ind., with drifts up to 8 inches.
2:40 p.m. EST: @JasonMeyersWX reports that Fort Wayne, Ind., police are responding to high volumes of crashes due to the weather.
2:21 p.m. EST: Snowflakes are reported at New York City's Central Park.
1:55 p.m. EST: The heaviest snow associated with this winter storm is falling from northern Ohio to central Pennsylvania with visibility down to a quarter of a mile or less in many locations.
1:45 p.m. EST: Latest snowfall totals: 9.0 inches at Winslow, Ind., 8.5 inches at New Madrid, Mo., 6.0 inches (mixed with sleet) at Natrona Heights, Pa., and 3.5 inches at Mercer, Pa.
1:26 p.m. EST: Toledo News Now reports that a crash involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck has forced officials to close Interstate 75 northbound at Ottawa River in northwestern Ohio.
1:20 p.m. EST: New snow total: 14.0 inches at Goreville, Ill.
1:07 p.m. EST: Weather-related flight delays in excess of an hour reported at the hubs in Philadelphia, New York City and Newark. Philadelphia continues to see snow pellets. New York City and Newark are currently dry, but that will change as the afternoon progresses.
12:56 p.m. EST: Latest snowfall totals in Maryland: 6.0 inches in Frostburg, 4.0 inches near Hancock and 3.5 inches in Walkersville.
12:40 p.m. EST: Snow pellets have started to fly in Philadelphia. Watch for roads to turn slick during the next few hours before a changeover to heavy rain occurs.

12:08 p.m. EST: Latest snowfall totals: 13.0 inches at Mount Carmel, Ill., 7.2 inches at Indianapolis, Ind., and 2.5 inches at Fort Wayne, Ind.
11:44 a.m. EST: The heaviest snow continues to fall from Indiana to central and western Pennsylvania, as well as across western Maryland and the panhandle of West Virginia.
11:22 a.m. EST: Latest snowfall total--14.5 inches at a location four miles south of Marion, Ill.
11:20 a.m. EST: Muncie, Ind., has reported a total of 6 inches of snow and more snow is falling. The snow and wind gusts past 30 mph have dropped visibility to a quarter of a mile.
11:10 a.m. EST: The southwestern-most extent of the winter storm has brought an inch of snow down to Olive Branch, Miss., located in the far northern part of the state, southeast of Memphis.
11:09 a.m. EST: Northeast of Pittsburgh, two inches of snow has been measured in Penn Hills, Pa. A thin glaze of ice is underneath the snow, creating added hazards for those driving or walking.
11:04 a.m. EST: Snow has started in Harrisburg and State College, Pa. Heavy snow is falling in Johnstown, Pa., reducing visibility to a quarter of a mile.

10:45 a.m. EST: Latest snow totals: 11.5 inches at Bloomington, Ind., and 9.0 inches at Greenwood, Ind.10:36 a.m. EST: Slick roads being reported around Pittsburgh, Pa. Snow has now dropped visibility to a half of a mile.
10:31 a.m. EST: One-quarter of an inch of freezing rain has glazed Washington, Pa., which is located southwest of Pittsburgh.
10:15 a.m. EST: Highest snow total so far from the storm: 18.3 inches at Albion, Ill.
10:07 a.m. EST: Indianapolis, Ind., has picked up a total of 7.0 inches of snow, making this snowstorm the city's heaviest since late January 2009. Three of those inches fell in only one hour.
10:06 a.m. EST: AccuWeather.com meteorologists just held a special map discussion and remain concerned for slick and slippery roads in Philadelphia, New York City and Boston before a wintry mix changes to rain.
9:40 a.m. EST: Thundersnow being reported near Miamisburg and Dayton, Ohio.
9:13 a.m. EST: Web cameras around Washington, D.C., showing a coating of snow in most areas. Roads are even snow-covered in Arlington, Va.
9:07 a.m. EST: The combination of heavy snow and winds gusting to 39 mph has dropped visibility down to one-eighth of a mile in Indianapolis, Ind.
8:00 a.m. EST: A total of 4 inches of snow has already been reported in Indianapolis, Ind.
7:30 a.m. EST: Heavy snow is falling across parts of Indiana into Ohio. Snow rates of up to 1 inch per hour are occurring in these areas. Snow is tapering off across southern Illinois and has ended in Arkansas where up to a foot has fallen.
