Snow showers moved through the Rockies on Thursday as a result of a cold
front that extended from California to the Dakotas, and the Northeast
experienced autumn like conditions.
Showers, including snow showers at higher elevations, moved over Nevada,
Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana on Thursday as a cold front trekked
through the region. This cold front ushered cooler weather into the
Southwest, but wet weather did not reach California or Arizona. Northern
Nevada experienced showers, while snow fell in several states along the
Rocky Mountains. States that were impacted by snowy weather included
Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana. To the northeast, spotty
thunderstorms moved over the Dakotas as a result of a low pressure
system in North Dakota. The southern Plains experienced warm, muggy
weather as high pressure drew a warm, moist air mass in from the Gulf of
Mexico. Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina felt the remains of a low
pressure system as thunderstorms rolled through the region. Meanwhile,
the Northeast sat under a system of high pressure that continued to
usher cool,dry weather in from Canada. Early morning temperatures were
in the 40s and 50s, while daytime highs ranged between the 60s and 70s.
Truckee-Tahoe, California recorded the daytime low for Thursday at 24
degrees, while the daytime high was recorded at 95 degrees in Goodyear,
Arizona.
