DC to Turn Milder, Wet This Weekend

This weekend is shaping up to be milder but also wet in Washington, D.C.
Before the weekend, Friday will be a mostly sunny day with temperatures rebounding into the upper 40s.
A surge of mild air will then boost temperatures into the lower 50s for Saturday underneath a sunny to partly cloudy sky.
The pleasant weather will not persist into Sunday as as rain will instead pour down, threatening to slow down motorists--including those heading home from their Christmas Day destinations. Airline passengers should prepare for possible delays.

Due to the warmer air, there is not a threat of Sunday's rain starting as or ending as snow. The same cannot be said for the mountains of northern West Virginia.

Rain is expected to end by Monday, leading to highs in the upper 40s.
However, the passage of a cold front will usher in the arrival of fresh arctic air for the last day of 2013. Temperatures will fail to rise out of the middle 30s on Tuesday, making for a frigid New Year's Eve celebration at Capital Hill.
