Two of the venerable January college football bowl games are celebrating anniversaries this week as fans and tailgaters will enjoy tranquil weather along with the football.
But there is a chance of a shower or two that could occur during three of the New Year's Day games in Florida.
"I don't see anything inclement at this point for games in California, Texas and Louisiana," AccuWeather.com Expert Senior Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said.
Sunny skies will flood over the 100th Rose Bowl Game presented by VIZIO on New Year's Day in Pasadena, Calif. The Stanford Cardinals make a return trip for the Pac-12 to Pasadena, this time to play Big Ten Conference representative Michigan State.
Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET. Game-time temperature will be near 70 degrees, Rayno said.
The other game celebrating an anniversary is the 80th Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 2.
There will be no worries about the weather for the game, which will be played in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Rayno said it will be mostly cloudy outside for revelers with temperatures slipping from the 60s and into the 50s. There is the chance of some rain for people hanging around in anticipation of the game. The game is slated to start at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Some clouds will be over the AT&T Cotton Bowl on Jan. 3 at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas, but it will be rain-free, Rayno said.
Rayno said the game-time temperature will be 57 degrees.

There are some concerns for rain during bowl games in Florida.
AccuWeather.com Expert Senior Meteorologist Dan Kottlowski said the possibility exists for a shower or two if a frontal system, which is expected to stall in southern Florida, moves far enough north.
The showery weather could occur during the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, the Outback Bowl in Tampa and the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl, Kottlowski said.
Game-time temperatures will be mild under cloudy skies at all three bowl games.
Jacksonville will be in the low 60s but rise to about 67 degrees by the end of the game. It will be about 70 in Orlando and Tampa.

Taking some time to read for a bit before the football games start this morning. Quite lovely with the rain falling hard outside.

College football will be very different next year. 3 bowl games NY Eve, 3 on NY Day, including 4-team playoff. New champ game 11 days later.
