Freeze warnings were issued across Georgia on Monday as a frontal boundary extended from the western Gulf Coast to Florida, while a wave of low pressure moved across the central Plains.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms continued to develop across the Gulf Coast on Monday as a frontal boundary extended from southern Texas to central Florida. The heaviest rain occurred along the central Gulf Coast and the Southeast, as Boothville, La., reported a midday total of 0.83 inches of rain, while Galliano, La., reported a midday total of 0.42 inches of rain. Just to the north, a mixture of rain and snow pushed across the central Plains and the middle Mississippi Valley as a wave of low pressure moved across the area. Jackson, Kan., reported a midday total of 2.0 inches of snow. Meanwhile, high pressure ushered a cold, blustery air mass across the northern Plains, the upper Midwest, the Great Lakes and the Northeast. Crane Lake, Minn., recorded a morning low of -25 degrees, while Saranac Lake, N.Y., recorded a morning low of -24 degrees.

Conditions remained relatively calm to the west of the Continental Divide on Monday as a ridge of high pressure parked itself along the coast of California. Temperatures ranged between the 80s and 90s across the Desert Southwest, as Needles, Calif., recorded a midday high of 81 degrees.
