Southeast to Benefit from Break in Heat, Humidity

A refreshing break from extreme heat and humidity is on the way this week across much of the Southeast, but Florida will be the exception.
More comfortable and less humid air will continue to filter into much of the Southeast through Monday. Atlanta, Columbia, South Carolina, and Birmingham, Alabama will be among a host of other cities that benefit in this relief.

A prolonged heat wave has been hiting the Southeast since the middle of June. AccuWeather RealFeel® temperatures hit 105-110 F on a regular basis over the last couple of weeks. This week, afternoon RealFeels® will peak in the upper 80s to low 90s.
"After a comfortable start to the week, sticky weather will make a return to the region," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson.

The humidity will gradually return toward the middle part of this week across the interior Southeast, but the extreme heat will not. With the humidity, hit-or-miss thunderstorms will return as well.
The entire Southeast will not receive a break in the heat though.

"Florida will stay hot and humid this week," said Anderson.
The cool front that was responsible for ushering in the cooler and less humid air will stall across northern Florida early this week and then dissipate through midweek.
The break in the heat may come to an end for the upcoming holiday weekend. A high pressure system is forecast to re-strengthen over Florida later this week, which can bring a renewed round of heat for the region.
