Below is an overview of the timing for Winter Storm Goliath followed by the snow accumulation forecast.

Winter Storm Goliath Storm Timing

Monday Night
A thin area of snow will spread from western, central and Upstate New York into western New England before dawn.
Any snow in much of central and western New York, as well as Pennsylvania will only be brief, changing to sleet and freezing rain overnight as it spreads into northern New Jersey and parts of southern New England. The wintry weather should remain to the north of the five boroughs of New York City, though a brief period of sleet or freezing rain can't be ruled out. Boston could see some minor accumulating snow overnight Monday night.
Meanwhile, a swath of snow will continue spreading north in the Upper Midwest Monday night from eastern South Dakota and eastern Nebraska to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Sleet or freezing rain will mix in over the western Great Lakes from parts of southeast Wisconsin to Lower Michigan, with precipitation changing to rain in the southern Great Lakes overnight.

Slick travel conditions are likely, including for the Tuesday morning commute. Some scattered power outages cannot be ruled out in areas with the heaviest freezing rain accumulations.
Snow or a wintry mix will linger in northern New England Tuesday night.
Cities Affected: Bangor, Maine | Albany, New York | Boston | Burlington, Vermont | Marquette, Michigan
Interstates Affected: I-95, I-87, I-91, I-90

Tuesday's Forecast

How Much More Snow?

Midwest, Plains Forecast
An additional 6 to 12 inches of snow is forecast from parts of southern Minnesota and northern Iowa to central and northern Wisconsin, northern Lower Michigan and much of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
In addition to the snow, some additional ice accumulations could be locally significant from near the Wisconsin/Illinois border into southern Lower Michigan.

Additional Snow Forecast Through Tuesday
New England Snow Forecast
Accumulating snow is likely in southern/central New England and Upstate New York Monday night into Tuesday before changing to sleet and freezing rain. As a result, generally light snow accumulations are expected along the Interstate 90 corridor.
Parts of far northern New England will remain all snow during the entire storm through Tuesday night. Therefore, the heaviest snowfall, in excess of a foot, is possible in the Green Mountains of New Hampshire as well as central and northern Maine.
This should be the first accumulating snow of the season in parts of southern New England, including Boston and Worcester. Both of those cities will likely change to plain rain on Tuesday. Albany, New York, could also see its first official measurable snow of the season Monday night before changing to freezing rain and plain rain on Tuesday.
