Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,January 30,2016

A low pressure system will bring impacts to the western half of the country on Saturday, while a weak frontal boundary shifts over the Great Lakes.

An area of low pressure will move east southeastward across the Intermountain West and the central high Plains. Moderate to heavy snow will spread across the northern and central Rockies, while mixed precipitation affects the northern and central Plains. Winter storm warnings are in place for Idaho, western Wyoming, northeast Utah and northwest Colorado. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend west southwestward. Moderate to heavy rain and mountain snow will impact central and northern California, as well as Nevada. Winter storm warnings are in place across the Sierra Nevada and the Ruby Mountains. Widespread freezing rain advisories are also in place for the northern Great Basin. Additionally, flash flood watches are in effect for the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and the southern Cascades. An onshore flow will persist over the Pacific Northwest. This will lead to similar weather conditions across Oregon and Washington.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system will drift eastward over south central Canada. A weak cold front will stretch south southwestward. This frontal boundary will initiate a light mixture of rain and snow from the upper Mississippi Valley to northwest New England. A ridge of high pressure over the western Atlantic will keep conditions dry across the East Coast on Saturday. Dry weather will also prevail across the Deep South and the southern Plains.
