WeatherWhys for January 27,2016 from accuweather.com

The Knickerbocker Storm of 1922 buried the mid-Atlantic with snow in late January. The storm got its name since the weight of the snow caused the roof of the Knickerbocker Theatre in Washington, D.C., to collapse, killing nearly 100 people. The storm totaled a record 28 inches in Washington, D.C., and was Baltimore's greatest snowstorm on record with 26.5 inches until being topped by the blizzards of 1996 and 2016.
