Germany to catch break from frequent downpours, heat early next week

After dealing with heavy thunderstorms and heat to start the weekend, Germany will welcome more seasonable temperatures and fewer downpours early next week.
A cold front will sweep heat, humidity and heavy thunderstorms out of Germany by Sunday, allowing cooler and more comfortable air to arrive in its wake.
On Friday, Berlin endured its hottest June day since 21 June 2000 as temperatures reached 35 C (95 F). When humidity was factored in, AccuWeather RealFeel® temperatures soared to 38 C (101 F).
Early next week will feel dramatically different with highs in Berlin being held to around 23 C (74 F). The lack of humidity will cause RealFeels to be closer to actual temperatures.

Detailed forecast for Berlin

Highs elsewhere across Germany will average 18-24 C (65-75 F) Sunday into Tuesday. Such highs are fairly typical for late June.
After lingering clouds and a shower depart on Sunday, southern Germany will enjoy dry weather for Monday and Tuesday.
Those with outdoor plans in Munich or Stuttgart do not have to worry about delays or postponements. Yard work that had to be pushed back amid the recent stormy weather can finally get completed.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to dot central and northern Germany early next week, but the activity will tend to be spotty. Parts of Monday and Tuesday will be dry with some areas potentially escaping the wet weather completely.
Without a surge of moisture from the south, flooding downpours will be less numerous early next week. After a few of the thunderstorms in northwestern Germany produce small hail on Sunday, incidents of hail and strong winds will dramatically reduce for Monday and Tuesday.
However, all residents are reminded to seek shelter as soon as thunder is heard. Even in the absence of gusty winds and downpours, the risk of being struck by lightning will be present.
As midweek approaches, a storm system may return more numerous showers and thunderstorms to far northern Germany. Another system quickly following may then pull drenching thunderstorms back across the country at midweek.
