A developing storm system will leave the Rocky Mountains early this week and bring severe storms to parts of Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas.
"A small disturbance riding over a bubble of hot air centered in the western United States will aid in igniting thunderstorms Monday afternoon into Tuesday," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Rossio said.
As the day progresses on Monday, budding thunderstorms will develop just east of the Rocky Mountains and will move eastward through the the evening.
"The most likely area for these storms to develop will be northeastern Colorado, southeastern Nebraska and northwestern Kansas," said Rossio.

Rossio said that severe thunderstorms on Monday afternoon and evening will be capable of generating very large hail as large as tennis balls, wind gusts of up to 60 mph and rainfall rates of a few inches an hour.
The strongest storms may even produce a few tornadoes.
According to the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network, thunderstorms in Colorado produce more hail than any other state in America. The storms will hit one of the most hail-prone areas in North America on Monday.

Another round of severe storms is on tap for a similar area on Tuesday with storms reaching from eastern Wyoming to northwestern Kansas.
Similar impacts can be expected on Tuesday with storms bringing the treat of damaging wind, large hail and perhaps a few tornadoes.
Those who are out on Monday and Tuesday should be cautious as storms may lead to rapidly deteriorating weather conditions.
This stormy weather pattern will persist into the middle of the week; however, no significant severe weather outbreak is expected.
