No heat in sight for UK as Atlantic storms continue to yield damp days

The heat felt across the United Kingdom during the middle of July has faded and is not expected to return through at least the first week of August.
The jet stream will dive southward into Spain and France, keeping any heat far south of the U.K. while also allowing frequent storm systems from the Atlantic Ocean to produce rainfall and cooler air.
While a washout is not expected over the next 10 days, frequent rainfall will dampen much of the U.K. and especially the North West.

Bright spells are expected across the Midlands and southern England from this weekend into Monday with any rainfall generally lasting 20 minutes or less.
The threat for more widespread soaking rain will increase from the middle of next week to late next week as several Atlantic storms target the U.K.
The first of these storms will arrive from Tuesday night into Wednesday bringing a more significant rainfall.
"A prolonged period of rain is expected across Wales, the Midlands and Northern England," AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys said.
Flooding is not expected to be a widespread concern; however, some localized problems are possible.

Following each of these storms, a new push of cool air will rush southward keeping temperatures near to below normal across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and northern England.
Farther south and east, the Midlands and Southern England can expect near-normal temperatures most days as the coolest air remains farther north.
